Silvador Climate Action, a collaborative venture between our company founders Silvador Company SRL and Forest Capital SRL, owns private forestland in Romania and has spearheaded a pioneering forest carbon credit project to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by conserving logged to protected (LtPF) privately owned forests. This project is a cornerstone of our wider initiative, CARBONOFF, and is implemented in accordance with the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) VM0012 – Improved Forest Management in Temperate and Boreal Forests (LtPF), v1.2 methodology.
Silvador Climate Action is committed to protecting culturally and ecologically significant forests on privately owned lands in Argeș, Buzău, Dâmbovița, Prahova, and Teleorman counties, Romania. Our team will achieve this through the implementation of an IFM project aimed at reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by deferring timber harvest and other forestry-related operations. We will also convert industrial forests to protected forest, increase carbon retention, and avoid future GHG emissions from felling operations, all in the name of protecting the environment and promoting sustainable forestry practices.

As owners of private forestland in Romania, we have developed our project around three main tree species: oak, beech, and hornbeam. These species are known for their high-density wood structure, which allows them to store more carbon per unit volume, and their longer lifespans, which enables them to sequester carbon for many years.

This density allows them to store more carbon per unit volume, making them superior for carbon sequestration. Additionally, these hardwood species have longer lifespans than softwoods, allowing them to continue to sequester carbon for many years.
Oak trees are particularly noteworthy for their carbon storage capacity, as they are able to store carbon in their wood, roots, and leaves.
